Richmond, BC - April 30, 2008 – Ultrasonix Medical Corporation, a leading developer and manufacturer of high quality diagnostic ultrasound imaging systems announced today that it has restructured its North American operations in order to improve profitability and increase focus on its target markets.
Over the past three years, the business has been focused on growing sales with a revenue increase of 50% per year. The restructuring will strengthen the organization, refocus the company on its core markets and be more efficient. “These initiatives, we believe will enhance our capability to continue to deliver innovative products and position the company for long term success, improve profitability and deliver outstanding value to our customers”, said Mr. Laurent Pelissier, CTO and Founder of Ultrasonix.
Following the restructuring, Ultrasonix is also announcing changes to its management team.
Effective immediately, Mr. Joe Bjorklund is being promoted to VP Sales, North America. Mr. Bjorklund was previously Business Manager of Emerging Markets for Ultrasonix. “We are excited to provide ongoing innovation to our ultrasound systems through our unique Open PC ultrasound technology, and we look forward to refining our product and business focus in order to further capitalize on the momentum that has been established in our key markets ”, said Mr. Bjorklund.
Mr. Graham Coulter is being promoted to VP Customer Service and Sales Operations. Mr. Coulter was previously Director of Customer Service for Ultrasonix. He joined the organization in April 2007 and brings with him almost 30 years experience in various senior roles in Operations and Logistics Management. Mr.. Laurent Pelissier and Mr. Sundeep R. Rao continue in their roles of Chief Technology Officer and VP Manufacturing and Operations respectively.
“Ultrasonix continues to support its customers through its Technical Support teams located at its North American head office as well as regionally in the UK, Brazil and China in addition to providing direct on-site technician services throughout Canada and the United States” continued Mr. Pelissier.
North American sales will continue to be a mix of direct and indirect sales models, with the company retaining direct representation in key geographic areas and with a renewed focus on emerging markets that more closely aligned with the company’s product strategy. Globally the company continues to experience success and growth through its international dealer/distribution model and its OEM sales.
