Ultrasonix Medical Corporation launches Sonix RP fully functional Research Ultrasound

Burnaby, BC (June 17, 2005) – Ultrasonix Medical Corporation of Canada has launched Sonix RP – the first fully functional Ultrasound Research package for investigational purposes, suitable for a research and scientific communities. Sonix RP provides the perfect balance of superior performance and affordability.

Ultrasonix will be present at several upcoming trade shows, including the 2005 American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine meeting in Orlando, FL from June 19th to June 22nd, 2005.

With 1024 broadband channels and more than 500 frames/sec processing capability, Sonix RP is equipped with investigational research package, pre-beam forming real-time acquisition software, RF mode, and SDK for client applications. With flexible control of the complete ultrasound signal path in an open architecture, Sonix RP is the only Research-driven ultrasound system in the market. In addition, Sonix RP offers complete control and access to pre and post beamformer RF data. In investigating application, for instance, Sonix RP provides custom filtering, envelope, detection and compression of acquired data.

Sonix RP is also equipped with dedicated boards and ASICs and programmable platform for individual research modes. The compact size of Sonix RP makes it portable and easy to handle. Along with more than 2050 frames storage space, Sonix RP features high image quality, front-load CD/DVD drive, and 2 front-load USB 2.0 drives for maximum data transfer convenience.

Dr. Robert Rohling, Assistant Professor of University of British Columbia has utilized Ultrasonix research package in his recent research projects. "The Ultrasonix system has provided the building blocks for much of my research in the Ultrasound Innovation Laboratory at UBC. We have been able to access all levels of the image processing pipeline including RF data. I am very happy with our collaboration with Ultrasonix."
