Dr. Fong is currently the Professor and Head of Department of Radiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Calgary as well as Regional Clinical Department Head of Diagnostic Imaging of the Calgary Region. In the past, Dr. Fong has served as the Chair of the Examination Board of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as well as the Chair of Canadian Heads of Academic Radiology. In additions to radiology, Dr. Fong also has 20 years experience in investing in junior ventures. Dr. Fong is currently on the Board of several of the Calgary based charities.
Dr. Fong is a radiologist in Calgary, Alberta.
A Director of Ultrasonix from 2000 to 2007, Dr. Irish rejoined the board in 2009. Dr. Irish is a Radiologist located in Vancouver, BC. Previously he was the Head of Diagnostic Imaging, Lions Gate Hospital, North Vancouver. He is one of the initial shareholders in Ultrasonix and in his use of Ultrasonix equipment in his active clinical practice, brings an end user perspective to the board.
Mr. Koob has spent more than 30 years in the Medical Imaging Industry and throughout this time has been involved in almost every major medical imaging modality including CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and Opthalmic Imaging to name a few.
Throughout his career Mr. Koob was instrumental in conceiving and bringing innovative products to the market with significant positive top and bottom line impact for some of the industry's leading companies.
Mr. Koob served as President of Zeiss/Humprey, a world-wide market leader in Ophthalmic Imaging instruments and as Executive Vice President for Analogic Corp., an OEM supplier for the medical and security industry.
During his 24-year career with Siemens Medical Solutions, Mr. Koob was initially responsible for R&D and later assumed a role of Group VP/General Manager for the Siemens world-wide MRI and Ultrasound businesses.
Mr. Koob participated in several global projects serving on several Boards in life science companies. Presently he is General Partner of Extera Partners a Cambridge, MA based consulting group.
Mr. Koob is a graduate from the University of Darmstadt, Germany, in Electrical Engineering (equivalent of MSEE) and has completed many educational programs for executives.
Dr. Magnin, Ultrasonix Chairman of the Board, had spent 17 years as a key contributor to Hewlett-Packard's Ultrasound Imaging business. He was the General Manager of Hewlett-Packard's Imaging Systems division from January 1996 through 1998 when Hewlett-Packard was the largest and most profitable Ultrasound company in the industry. From 1998 through 2003, Dr. Magnin was the President of LightLab Imaging. LightLab Imaging brought to market a proprietary technology that employs infrared light to make images with resolution on the micron scale for Cardiology, Endoscopy, Neurology, and Surgical Microscopy. He managed the company from the start-up phase through the sale of the company to Goodman Ltd.
Dr. Magnin has been studying and working in medical imaging since 1977 while an undergraduate at Princeton University. In 1981 he completed his doctorate in Biomedical Engineering at Duke University where he was part of the ultrasonic imaging research team.
Mr Laurent Pelissier founded Ultrasonix in 2000. Since inception of the company he provided the technical vision and leadership to develop the OpenSONIX ultrasound platform and its associated products, including the Sonix RP, leading research tool for developing new ultrasound diagnostic technologies and the Sonix Series systems for the emerging ultrasound imaging segments.
Mr Pelissier was instrumental in transforming the Company from an R&D venture into a global, profitable company with sales in over 68 countries. He holds a M. Sc in Electrical Engineering from Ecole National Superieure de l'Electronique et ses Application (ENSEA) in Cergy Pontoise, France.
Mr. Poelzer has more than 22 years experience in the oil and gas industry. He is currently a Director and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Bonavista Energy Trust. Prior to Bonavista, he held various financial, M&A and strategic planning roles with Poco Petroleums Ltd. Mr. Poelzer is a Chartered Accountant and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Commerce (Distinction) in 1983.
Mr. Poelzer is also a member of the board of directors of NuVista Energy Ltd. as well as various private companies and a charitable foundation.
Mr. Ratushny is President of Eagle Equities Ltd., a private Alberta company engaged in financing and structuring junior companies. He is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pilot Energy Ltd. and Enseco Energy Services Corp. and a Director of Divestco Inc. and E4 Energy Inc. as well as serving on the Boards of several private oil and gas and medical device companies.
