Ultrasonix was founded in 2000 by Laurent Pelissier, a research engineer with more than 10 years of experience designing software and hardware sub-systems related to the field of Ultrasound. Pelissier envisioned a new approach to Ultrasound technology through the adaptation of computerized software and state of the art miniaturization of technology. He received his first patent in 2001, and in 2003 introduced the ES 500, the predecessor to today's award-winning Sonix series platform that offers unprecedented imaging performance in a package designed for the private practice and clinic environments.
Since this time the company has experienced strong growth and continued on its innovation track, adding an industry experienced management team and the solid backing of private investors. In August 2005, Laurent decided to focus on his passion for innovation and assumed the role of Chief Technical Officer. Ultrasonix was pleased to announce the appointment of John T. Buhler as Chief Executive Officer, an industry veteran with an outstanding 24-year career in Ultrasound with companies including General Electric. He now leads an experienced management team with solid backgrounds from companies like KPMG, ATL Ultrasound and General Electric to name a few.
Today Ultrasonix is a high growth company poised for long-term success.
The innovative Sonix product series continues to evolve, providing medical practitioners in both traditional and high-growth applications areas with
systems that blend performance and cost effectiveness into a package for
this growing market.
